Today we’d like to introduce you to Candise Tarasco.
Candise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born a month early after my mother was diagnosed with Leukemia while pregnant with me. I’ve always felt connected to a greater purpose and reason for my existence due to the timing and the luck of my birth. My mother luckily went into remission she always instilled heart and passion into anything we did. My journey through life has landmarks where I recognize with gratitude the effort she made so that I understood “anything” I had an interest in was possible. After having my own child who is now 6 years old, I was guided by a friend into my first hot yoga class. After this 60min class, I experienced such euphoria and an instant release from anxiety and depression that I had been previously experiencing.
I was instantly hooked. Three months later I decided to participate in a Teacher Training and received my 200Hr RYT certification. I began teaching at Hot Yoga Healthy You in Temecula under the ownership of D’Andre, Kelsey, Andy & Marilyn. They have created such an amazing space and community of hot yogi enthusiasts here in Temecula Ca. I recently transitioned to a plant-based diet and Vegan lifestyle and have had the opportunity to help others transition as well. During my journey, my husband Anthony Tarasco who is the Manager of the Lake Elsinore Storm baseball team (Padres Affiliate) has transitioned plant-based as well taken on Yoga and Meditation. Our son was the easy one to transition. He was the one that really pushed me to take the leap bc children are so compassionate. Once he understood that animals were being harmed for human consumption he never wanted to eat meat again. He is my daily example of pure compassion. I have had the blessing to train professional athletes, one of which is our own Padres outfielder Josh Naylor.
During his off-season, he spends his time here in Temecula training with my husband and me in centering his Mind Body Spirit, as well as his athletic performance and nutrition. I can not wait to grow my resume with more athletes and begin vegan activism in my community. The combination of a Plant-Based diet for athletes is growing more popular due to its benefits of Recovery and reduction of inflammation. I keep a weekly teaching schedule at Hot Yoga Healthy You as well as private training in yoga and meditation. Find me in Temecula for my favorite Friday morning Vinyasa class at 9:30 am, where I challenge students to find the connection of breath to movement, deepening them into postures as well as clearing their minds for meditation.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Through my personal yoga and meditation practice, I have acquired the tools to look at my challenges and obstacles as the precursor to personal development and growth. Therefore, I now get excited when the road gets bumpy. I engage my breath, stay true to myself and allow the challenge to be overcome so that I can enter into my growth mindset and receive all the blessings and rewards that challenge has to offer.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
During Major League Baseballs off-season I love having the opportunity to work privately with Athletes. Yoga is not only a great recovery for them but allows them the space to work on accepting the challenge and overcoming it. I am so honored to also be an Instructor at Hot Yoga Healthy You in Temecula Ca. I teach Vinyasa style yoga and love specializing in my classes around proper alignment and engagement of breath.
People leave class feeling the weight of the world released from their shoulders and more energized to take on their next obstacle. They also leave realizing the importance of breath. Breath is one of the only physiological processes that continue to work whether we control it or not. Teaching students that they can maximize their practice and connection to self by syncing their breath to movement is a rewarding technique. I express through my classes that when we are faced with contention or opposition, we can choose to take a moment and breath (pause) then choose our perspective that works to maintain peace in our life. Once you choose that perspective your reaction begins to serve you rather than control you.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like Temecula because of the feeling of “community”. I love how much the city contributes to families, Vail Headquarters always puts on wonderful weekend events making this city which has grown so big still feels like a small town.
