Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Davison.
Nick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up my family was in Real Estate, at age eight I remember my father knocking on doors collecting checks from tenants. At that moment I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up! Shortly thereafter in the early 90’s the market turned and my family lost everything.
Hard times came while I was in middle/high school and there were moments we would be living at friends & family houses, hotels and even a van I bought that I turned into a living space.
While at a friend’s house I remember being so hungry and pissed off that there was no food to eat. That motivated me to find any way to make money. I grabbed a lawnmower the next day and started knocking on doors to see if I could mow peoples yards for $5 bucks. When they told me no, I offered my services for $3 bucks, if they said no still I offered to mow it for free, that would guarantee me the job next week. I would also do other side jobs working part-time, washing cars, shoveling horse crap, I even borrowed money from one bank to lend to another for a profit.
By the end of high school, I was able to save up $30k from sacrificing every day to purchase my first house at 19 years old. It was a 1/1 but the plan was to make it into a 3/2. I had some family that said they would help me, unfortunately, I was manipulated, lied to and robbed by these family members. Major lessons learned here, some of the worst kinds of people are closer to you then you think and money and greed bring out the worst in people. Broke, I moved down to San Diego where I lived and worked with an ex-girlfriend’s dad in commercial framing construction trying to start all over. Four yrs later of backbreaking work, we saved up about 80k. Buying my second house with much better people around I made $71k in 36 days….”There is a God” moment!
That one house turned into over 500 house flips/wholesales, apartments, etc.. and here we are today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. I made my fair share of mistakes including trusting the wrong people. Also fear, I lost out on a lot of deals because I was too afraid to take risks.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We’d love to hear more about your business. I own a real estate investment company and we specialize in doing house and apartment flips in San Diego. We’ve done around 500 flips/wholesales and syndications. What I’m most proud of is my team, I’m blessed to work with badass people that work their asses off and make work fun and exciting. I’m also newly passionate and proud of my coaching program. I’ve recently taken on a handful of students and have had great success. One of my students made over $30k in her first 30 days with no experience! Another was a broker and had trouble finding deals but in his first 45 days he locked up a property! He’s set to make over $50k on that flip alone! Making my dreams a reality is amazing but helping someone else attain theirs is on another level of fulfillment. Hearing that I’ve made a difference and helped break through my students limiting beliefs makes my day. It’s addicting and something I definitely want to pursue more. What sets my company apart from others is my culture, the fact that we all are passionate about what we do and truly care about one another is rare.
What were you like growing up?
I was always the class clown and obviously drop-dead gorgeous… But most of all humble;) Although I didn’t excel in school I was always hard working. I remember being fascinated by money because it was something I didn’t have and knew it could un-lock the freedom and security I was seeking.
