Meet Nuno Costa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nuno Costa.

Nuno, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started coaching in 2008 – at the time, I was going to school to become a teacher, but I had been in fitness most of my life. I went to the CF Games as a spectator – and immediately fell in love with it. I wanted to be able to do the things these people were doing and I wanted to look like them. I wasn’t expecting to my find my career and my calling to help people through health and fitness but I am super thankful I did.

Ever since I haven’t really looked back – I have pursued courses on health and fitness and began coaching full time in 2009. I began teaching seminars for CrossFit Endurance in 2010 and in 2012 started coaching seminars for CrossFit. Between the two, I have taught over 250 seminars worldwide which has been a huge blessing to share my passion for health and fitness with people all over the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ups and downs – especially now, with as much certainty in the world as we are experiencing. It’s been a constantly evolving process which I have enjoyed. I would probably get bored super easily, I was doing the same thing over and over again. I know I wouldn’t be able to do so.

Everyday is unique, the conversations I have, the people I meet and connect with. I’d say some of the struggles have been where to coach, whether to start my own business, not having health insurance at times, not being certain when the next seminar will be scheduled and how and if I will be able to pay my bills.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I help people redefine what’s possible in their health and fitness. There’s a lot that I do – I connect people with the best part of themselves, I guide, I direct, I encourage, motivate and lead them from where they are at to where they want to be.

I specialize in coaching. That shows up through seminars, my run club here in SD, the affiliate I coach, I have virtual clients as well.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
