Meet Christian Henkel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Henkel.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Christian, a travel/lifestyle photographer and full-time adventurer. Travel was rooted early in my life and has become my single biggest passion. The endless experiences, life-changing lessons and timeless memories have easily made travel the one thing that I crave most. Fast forward in time to where I made the decision to make photography my priority and ultimately, my everything. I chose to end the lease on my apartment, quit my 9-5 job, sell everything I owned, and buy a van which I have since converted to my home on wheels and mobile office.

That brings us to today. Where my most cherished goal is to reach every corner of the globe and document each moment, each breathe and step of my climb along the way. Whether it be rock climbing in Joshua Tree, snowshoeing through Sequoia, or watching the sunset in my hometown of Encinitas, my love for the outdoors, adventure, and new experiences is revealed through my photographs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to pursuing full-time photography has not been an easy one and continues to challenge me in new and unique ways everyday. From waking up at 4:00AM to catch a sunrise to staying up all night to edit photos, each day presents a new obstacle to overcome. While the seemingly endless challenges can be stressful at times, it’s the constant uncertainty that keeps me excited and inspired to continue chasing my dreams each day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a very specific interest in capturing the little moments. The moments that are often overlooked but rarely forgotten. My endless mission with photography is to inspire people to get out and experience what this world has to offer in all its entirety. I believe life was made for the climb. That it’s not just about reaching the summit but the deep breathes and steps in between.

What are your plans for the future?
My biggest goal for the future is to continue exploring new places, meeting new people and creating new memories all while documenting my journey along the way. 2022 is shaping up to be a big year full of unique destinations, exciting collaborations with other artists and bigger adventures than ever before. Super stoked to continue pushing my photography to new heights and hopefully inspire others to get out there and follow their passion.
