Meet Pablo Rios of Barrio Dogg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pablo Rios.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Pablo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
WELCOME TO BARRIO DOGG, BARRIO LOGAN!

Our mission is to impact the community through a Culinary – Cultural experience, by providing a taste of Chicano comfort food, with the emphasis of using high-quality ingredients, and to express the artistic flavor that comes from our neighborhood.

As the street-food movement continues its evolution, it is important to honor the timeless and internationally favored – Hot Dog. Our Barrio Dogg Team is dedicated to providing Our community the opportunity to taste the food that not only provides warmth in our stomach but also in our heart. The fusion of international hot dog recipes, combined with the comfort of Nana’s Kitchen, is meant to satisfy the cravings of your soul.

Has it been a smooth road?
We feel very grateful for the opportunity to serve our community a quality fast food alternative. The response has been a breath of fresh air after working so hard to get the Barrio Dogg Project built out and opened in less than 6 months.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Barrio Dogg story. Tell us more about the business.
We are dedicated to providing our guest with a dining experience that satisfies a craving for quality ingredients while bringing a sense of comfort to the soul. All of our ingredients are locally sourced. Brandt Farms 100% Black Angus Beef is the foundation for every Barrio Dogg. The Imperial Valley is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to high quality naturally raised beef. Our bread is made fresh daily by our Master Panadero “Bakery Master”.

The Sonora Style Artisan Rolls sweet flavor and fluffy texture hold up to any condiments you want to pile on your Barrio Dogg. All of our produce is delivered from our neighbor three doors down at FV Products. They have been providing San Diego with Fresh Produce for over 4o years. All of our salsas and cremas are made in house including our unique line up of spice. Purple Rain is made with Roasted Beets and Prickly Pear Cactus Fruit while our Crazy Rabbit Salda is made with Carrot and Habanero. Our Barrio Dogg Team then takes this pallet of ingredients to create an international tribute to a timeless classic.

From our Signature, Tijuana Style Bacon Wrapped Works Dogg El Xolito to El Capone our Traditional rendition of a Chicago Favorite. The fun does not stop with the Doggs. Chicano Comfort food is meant to celebrate the home-cooked dishes we grew up in our childhood. These flavors are meant to invoke a feeling and bring back memories of your Mama, Nana or Tia. From our Sopa de Fideo (Thin cut pasta simmered in a tomato chicken broth served with Cotija Cheese, Cilantro and Lime to our Elotitos (Sweet Corn smoked with hickory and misquite topped with house-made lime crema, cotija cheese, tajin and fresh lime zest. We are excited to share our vision and flavors with all of our friends, family, and neighbors!!!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As the street food movements grow it is important that we stay true to our intentions and always make the ingredients the star of the show. We look forward to bringing the flavors of Barrio Dogg to Neighborhoods throughout the U.S. and Beyond.
