Daily Inspiration: Meet Jake Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Smith.

Hi Jake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Just a young man who joined the United States Army right out of high school. After serving 8 years I returned to California in 2005 and decided it would be a good idea to start training in Muay Thai. Training under my long time coach Bill Dean taught me many things in life and in fighting. He was a major pillar in my life. After he passed away suddenly in 2021 I decided to keep his legacy going and took over operations and ownership of Chainsaw fitness. Chainsaw is not for your average fitness goer. We are a tribe and we push hard. Personal growth physically and mentally is the name of the game here. For those that dare to better their life we welcome with open arms

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Transitioning from long time athlete to coach and owner came with many challenges. Everything from restructuring the books to creating the same tough workouts every single day. Any small gym owner can tell you that running a gym is like running a dysfunctional family sometimes and I wouldn’t trade it for the world

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Chainsaw specializes in Muay Thai, boxing, and metcon style bootcamps for conditioning. I am most proud of the long time gym members we have and all the amazing testimonials of how their lives have been impacted by being part of Chainsaw. One thing that sets us apart is the accountability that comes with being part of this tribe. If you say you’re gonna be there we will hold you to it. If you miss then we have a variety of impactful challenges to choose from

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe mentors are found by finding someone that pours energy into you selflessly. I was mentored heavily by my Coach Bill Dean and its natural for me to pour that into my people
