Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Denham.
Hi Ian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Noodle Bagz was founded by three local rugby players in Pacific Beach. In 2018, while in pursuit of the ultimate upper leg tan, we hosted a triathlon for all of our friends. The race times were slow but the after party was fast as hell. After the huge success of the event ‘Noodle Bagz’ was born, a swimwear company for bodies of all shapes and sizes.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The obvious obstacle for Noodle Bagz is that a speedo isn’t the most popular type of swimsuit for a lad in California…yet. There’s always a few people trying to grab a sneaky Snapchat when we go to the beach which is a good laugh. We’re happy to be in on the giggles and not take ourselves too seriously. It’s free marketing for us.
We do plenty of local swim events every year including the epic La Jolla 10 mile relay, the locals are hugely supportive of our small brand. It’s a great swim and triathlon community here in SD.
Our biggest obstacle on the weekends in PB would be falling off a Bird while wearing Noodle Bagz, really scrapes the arse.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’ve got a diverse group of founders with an Irish man, a German and one local legend from San Diego. We’re all involved in the creative side of Noodle Bagz. All of our prints are hand-drawn and then touched up in Adobe Illustrator. We capture all of our own media and have full control over our branding. We’re very proud of that.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We’re probably taking a fashion risk just by wearing Noodle Bagz.
