Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Acevedo
Hi Mia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The way I got started was when i started crawling inside my father’s gym. I would just sit on my pampers watching all the kids boxing and slowly I started mimicking the fighters. My father always tells me the story when I started walking i started throwing punches. I’ve been committed to the sport of boxing since then. I don’t remember a time i wasn’t boxing. My goals now is to become number one in the nation and win Junior Olympic gold metals. I’m definitely close I’ve won two silver metals.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been the biggest roller coaster of my short thirteen years. It started with my father asking me are you sure you want to do this(boxing). After replying yes my said ok I’m going to brake you to make you. So I got put on the fast track by my father he didn’t slowly build me with just even fights with my opponents. He put me in with national champions so after my loses I definitely felt broken and defeated. Now a few years later and 35 fights in 2x Junior Olympic Champion #4 in the nation what he said to me make much more sense.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
One of the most important characteristics Iv discovered on my journey is being mentally strong. You will not survive one day in the gym let alone in a fight.
