Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandrine Bouton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started dancing when I was 3 years old with modern jazz in Martinique. I did it for 3 years; then I stopped to focus on others activities. I went back to it when I was 14 years old, but this time in hip-hop and dancehall. At 20 years old, in France, I started a professional dance school to get my diploma as a jazz teacher. At this school named EPSE danse, I’ve learned ballet, contemporary and modern jazz. I was at this time already teaching dancehall and kizomba in other dance studio. After q successful career in Europe, I moved to Los Angeles at the age of 25 years old. There, I started doing jazz funk, hip-hop, and heels.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This came with many challenges. For example, starting ballet at the age of 20 was very difficult, but I didn’t let this being an issue in my career. I fought and trained harder than the others Same when I arrived on Los Angeles, the level of dance here was way better than France. So, I work hard to become the best version of myself and booked incredible jobs
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a professional versatile dancer. I do many different style such as hip-hop, dancehall, jazz funk, kizomba, modern jazz, and more. One of my biggest booking is the Brazilian MTV awards dancing for Ludmilla and the OUTLOUD Music Festival dancing for kornbread jeté. I did also plenty Music video for artist like YG, Kat de Luna, and many more. I was also a celebrity kizomba teacher. And did many Festivals in Europe
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I would love to dance for Beyoncé and Missy Elliot. I would love to do a world tour
