Conversations with Molé Mama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molé Mama.

Hi Molé Mama, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From my humble beginnings on a small dairy farm to becoming an author, Silicon Valley tech executive, blogger, vlogger, podcaster, and even a contestant on *Guy’s Grocery Games*, I’ve always had one secret ingredient: homemade food. Cooking for others is my love language. If you’ve ever been in my inner circle or worked alongside me, chances are you’ve tasted my salsa, guacamole, tacos, queso fundido, mole, enchiladas, Spanish rice, or my infamous chocolate cupcakes—affectionately called “crack cakes” because no one can stop at just one!

I believe that home-cooked food can break down cultural and generational barriers, spark a sense of belonging, and create meaningful, lasting connections. It’s more than nourishment—it’s storytelling, comfort, and magic.

During my years as a Silicon Valley executive, I cooked countless meals for my team during overnight product launches, hosted vibrant potlucks, and led with heart. We built something special together. Our attrition rate was under 5%, we consistently exceeded sales and growth goals, and many teammates followed me from company to company.

I attribute my success as a leader and entrepreneur to the values passed down through my rich Mexican heritage, my mother’s treasured recipes, my deep commitment to listening, and my passion for inspiring others—whether they’re in the office or the kitchen—to believe in themselves and soar.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whilst I’ve loved this journey, it’s been filled with mistakes and poor decisions. From agreeing to partnerships that I didn’t fully understand or didn’t align with my goals, brand, and community to poor business decisions. I’ve lost my way more than once. I’ve begun to understand that these wrong turns can accelerate my growth as an entrepreneur by owning my choices, reflecting on their cost, and how not to make the same choice repeatedly.

The biggest and most debilitating obstacle to my journey was those moments when I allowed a poor decision or something someone said to negatively impact my self-confidence. Staying strong, believing in yourself, and refusing to play small or give up is a daily commitment and an ongoing practice.

I often tell myself, “Remember who your mama believed in and show up as her today: strong, confident, kind, brilliant, and unstoppable.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the heart and hands behind Molé Mama, a movement rooted in love, tradition, and the magic of homemade food. I’m an author, culinary storyteller, podcaster, and speaker who celebrates my rich Mexican heritage, my mama’s sacred recipes, and my abuelita’s magical molcajete. Through cooking, I honor my ancestors, my culture, and the power of sharing a meal to heal, connect, and create joy.

What do I do? I teach people how to make traditional Mexican dishes like mole, tamales, and enchiladas, not just the how-to but the why. I tell the stories behind the recipes, the laughter and tears poured into every dish, and the love that transcends generations. I also lead Culinary Pop-Ups and speak at universities, corporate events, and cultural festivals about belonging, grief, leadership, and the beauty of cultural traditions.

I specialize in helping others find their own stories in the kitchen, whether they’re trying to recreate abuelita’s rice or learning to cook from scratch for the first time. I’m known for creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can laugh, cry, and reconnect with themselves, their heritage, and each other.

I’m incredibly proud that my storytelling and recipes have touched hearts worldwide, from being featured on Guy’s Grocery Games to hearing from strangers who say my mole recipe brought them back to their childhood kitchen, and seeing my latest book, Abuelita’s Magical Molcajete, on Amazon’s top 100 Hispanic Literature list.

What sets me apart is my deep belief that food is a love language, that a single homemade tortilla can be a bridge between generations, and that our kitchens are sacred spaces for healing and celebration. Molé Mama is about more than food; it’s about reminding people where they come from and helping them feel seen, heard, and connected.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by the love I give, the stories I share, and the connections I help create. It’s not about titles, followers, or even how many books I’ve sold; it’s about impact. If something I’ve cooked, written, or said makes someone feel less alone, inspires them to pick up their abuelita’s recipe again, or reminds them of who they are and where they come from, that’s a success.

Success is hearing someone say, “Your Spanish rice tastes just like my mamá’s,” or watching a room full of strangers laugh, cry, and bond over a molcajete at one of my pop-ups. It’s helping people feel seen, fed, and rooted, especially in a world that moves so fast.

And it’s showing up with integrity, honoring my culture, trusting my intuition, and never forgetting the humble kitchen I started in with my mama by my side. If I can continue to lead with love, nourish souls, and pass on the magic of our ancestors, I know I’m walking in my purpose, and that’s the most beautiful kind of success.
