Hello, I’m Anastasia, the founder of Nestplace. My journey began in Ukraine, where I was born and spent my early years. At the age of 20, I made the courageous decision to move to America. Stepping into adulthood in a foreign country without family or language skills was daunting, but I was driven by dreams and determination.

My early days in America were challenging. I started working as a house cleaner, a job that taught me the value of meticulous care and hard work. Gradually, I transitioned into customer-facing roles, where I honed my language skills and mastered client relationships. Each of these experiences was a building block that helped shape my entrepreneurial path.

After graduating from college in San Francisco, I spent seven years in business management, gaining invaluable experience. Life brought unexpected twists, including meeting my wonderful husband and becoming a mother to our two beautiful daughters, Amelia and Avery. My passion for organizing, which I’ve had for as long as I can remember, began to resurface strongly during this time.

In 2023, another significant event occurred when my mom joined me in America, fleeing the invasion of Ukraine. This family reunion was a turning point that inspired me to combine my skills and passions to create something meaningful. Thus, Nestplace was born—a business dedicated to offering top-notch organizing and cleaning services.

Nestplace isn’t just about decluttering spaces; it’s about making a difference. We prioritize hiring and supporting people from Ukraine, providing them with opportunities to rebuild their lives in America. Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers our team members to grow and succeed.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has not been a smooth road. Moving to America alone at 20 was incredibly challenging. I faced significant struggles with the language barrier, which made it difficult to find well-paid jobs. The jobs I did manage to get often involved harsh working conditions where I wasn’t treated with the respect and dignity every person deserves.

Legalizing my stay in America was another major hurdle. Navigating the legal system alone, without knowing anyone who could help, was daunting. I had to work hard to afford a lawyer who could assist with my case, adding to the stress and uncertainty of my situation.

Cultural shock was another significant challenge. Everything seemed so different and often wrong to me. It took years to adjust and understand that these differences were not inherently negative but simply different from what I was used to.

These experiences have profoundly shaped who I am today and how I run Nestplace. They taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of treating people with respect. This is why I pride myself on being a thoughtful employer, committed to supporting my team as much as I can. I want to create an environment where my employees feel valued and supported, helping them build meaningful careers just as I have built mine.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Many people have played a crucial role in the success of Nestplace and my personal journey. First and foremost, my mom deserves immense credit. She raised and believed in me, showing me that anything is possible if you put your heart into it. She had to restart her life multiple times—first after divorcing my dad at 26 with a 4-year-old me, and two more times due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite these challenges, she has always remained positive and kept moving forward, serving as a wonderful example for me.

I also want to give a shout-out to my husband, who has stood by me every step of my career. He encouraged me to go to college and was incredibly patient with me while I was learning English. He has been my sounding board and partner in life, always supporting and believing in my dreams.

Additionally, our clients and team members have been incredible supporters. Our clients trust us with their homes and personal spaces, and their positive feedback and loyalty have been invaluable. Our team members, especially those from Ukraine who have joined us, bring dedication and passion to our work, helping us create the supportive and inclusive environment that Nestplace is known for.

These mentors, supporters, and teammates have all contributed significantly to the success of Nestplace, and I am deeply grateful for their roles in our journey.
