Inspiring Conversations with Katrinna Jasso of hara healing arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrinna Jasso.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was four years old, I had an experience while massaging my mother’s back that would shape the path I walk today. We were sitting on the living room floor, and although my hands were placed on her shoulders, I could feel energy at the base of her spine. I was amazed by what my hands could pick up, and to this day, I still can’t fully explain it. All I know is that it’s energy, intuition, and a deep listening through touch—elements that remain at the core of my practice.

In college, I studied psychology and played tennis, but it wasn’t until someone close to me pursued a big dream of theirs that I reignited my own. I followed the spark of excitement and enrolled at ICOHS College in San Diego to earn my Holistic Health Practitionership. A year after I graduated from ICOHS, I went on to three different yoga teacher trainings specializing in vinyasa, yin, and Breathwork.

My first job as a massage therapist was at a cozy spa in Hillcrest called Bodhi Massage and Wellness Center, where I worked for two years while slowly building my own clientele. One day, a client gifted me an Excel sheet to track my clients—something so simple yet incredibly impactful in helping me transition to working for myself.

Then came a moment that felt like fate. One evening, while on a call with my business-savvy friend, we were talking about goals and dreams. With no real expectation, I opened Craigslist to browse—and there it was, a listing for what would become my studio space. At that time, I was doing mobile massage and renting spaces by the hour, but I knew I was ready for more. After a couple of weeks of reflection and the wise advice of my soon-to-be landlord, I took the leap and signed the lease.

Looking back on this chapter fills me with immense gratitude. The road has been busy at times, balancing all the moving parts of running a business, but it has been smooth in the ways that truly matter. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love—to help people in such a meaningful way. It’s one of the greatest gifts of my life.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if my client had never given me that Excel sheet, if I hadn’t made that phone call that evening. But by the grace of the universe, I did. And it’s in these “meant-to-be” moments that my belief in my mission—and in myself—grows stronger. I have felt supported every step of the way, by my loved ones, my wonderful clients, and by the simple yet powerful act of holding my vision in love. Living in the chapters of my present that were once just dreams serves as a profound affirmation to my soul every day.

I’m an integrative massage practitioner specializing in both Eastern and Western massage techniques. Drawing from modalities such as deep tissue, lomi lomi, tui na, orthopedic massage, and my background in yoga, and breathwork, I tailor each session to what the body needs in the moment. In addition, I offer sound healing, hot stones, cupping, and aromatherapy as optional therapeutic add ons. I’ve been told many times that I am strong despite how small I am, and I am able to give deeper, therapeutic work for those who crave that.

What sets me apart is my ability to deeply listen—not just with my hands, but with my full presence. I tune in to the body’s subtle cues throughout the session, allowing me to respond intuitively and effectively. With a deep understanding of the body’s interconnectedness, I work with the knowledge that relief in one area can often be found by addressing another. Integrating sound healing meditation into my sessions adds a profound dimension to the body therapy. Research indicates that sound healing can significantly reduce tension, fatigue, and increase mood, while enhancing spiritual well-being. By combining this with intuitive touch, I offer clients a chance to melt into bliss after a therapeutic bodywork session.
I do not believe that I’m healing anyone, rather, I’m helping their body remember what healing feels like, and reminding their cells of that vital life force. Massage therapy has the power to interact with your nervous system, creating a space of safety. When we quiet the mind and connect with our body- we can feel what feels calm, safe, and true to us. Energetically, receiving bodywork can help quiet outside noise that doesn’t belong to you – and connect you to what feels most aligned to you. Consistency is key, and whether you come in for a session once a week, month, or year, make the session ceremonial for yourself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say it’s been a smooth road in the sense that even the challenges have felt like necessary growing edges. Being a business owner has pushed me to evolve in so many ways—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by friendships and colleagues who inspire me, uplift me, and hold me accountable.

There have absolutely been moments of fear and discomfort, but choosing to move forward anyway has built a deep sense of self-trust. It’s a practice. Doing scary things doesn’t always get easier, but the time between feeling fear and taking action gets shorter—and sweeter. Sweeter because, when I reflect, I see how those choices have always led to growth, to deeper connection, and to exactly where I was meant to be.
