Meet Andi and Renee VanHeel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andi and Renee VanHeel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andi and Renee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Andi: I have always had an indescribable passion for nonprofits and helping others. From numerous mission trips

 with my church and school, to working with World Vision and Compassion International, provided me with the experience needed to run ESBCharity.

 Before moving to California for this position, I traveled the world with an organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Where I witnessed what long term help and relationship building looks like. Taking over as the Executive Director of Every Swipe Benefits Charity has allowed me to build incredible relationships with world-changing nonprofits.

Renee: I started to Pay it Forward as a result of pure frustration of watching my friends get taken advantage of

 by the credit card industry. Knowing there needed to be a fair alternative, David and I created PFProcessing. Since then, I have helped hundreds of other businesses to avoid scrutiny and lies from other companies.

 I continue to put myself second when people are in need.

I created Every Swipe Benefits Charity when I saw how many nonprofits have to focus their time and energy on fundraising instead of the cause.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Andi: To some, it may seem to be easy, but I like to describe my road to where I am more like a trail in the mountains. You have an idea of where you are headed but you still veer off, trip on some rocks, and maybe run into a couple of trees along the way.

One of my biggest struggles was figuring out how to run a nonprofit 100% by myself. It has been a learning curve for sure, but well worth it.

Renee: The road to where I am has been anything but easy, however, I wouldn’t change it for the world. From building a successful business, to losing absolutely everything in the 2007 wildfires and needing to rebuild our business, our home, and our lives have formed me into the person I am today.

I could list all the struggles I have gone through, but we don’t have enough time or space. Some of the biggest ones would be watching some of my closest friends have to shut their business doors due to credit card processors take advantage of them, creating a nonprofit that has a completely different viewpoint on fundraising, and learning to work with family in a healthy way.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Andi and Renee: I don’t really think I would have done anything differently because everything I have gone through has given me the tools and experience to allow me what I do today.
