Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Bacalao.
Hi Gabriela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started at a very young age when I discovered my passion for music and the arts. I grew up in Venezuela, surrounded by musical influences that sparked my desire to create and express myself. Eventually, I moved to the U.S., where I studied Music Production an experience that helped me sharpen both my creative and technical skills.
Over the years, I’ve worked hard to build my own path—writing and producing music that reflects who I am. I sing and play the drums, and my sound blends rock with a rebellious and sensual energy.
Right now, I’m focused on releasing new music and connecting with people who truly vibe with and understand my message — and the most important thing: enjoying every step of this journey and fully enjoying myself along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was signing a bad contract with a record label early on. That situation kept me from releasing music for almost three years, which was incredibly frustrating and disheartening.
Being unable to share my art during that time took a huge toll on me emotionally and creatively—it led me into a deep depression. I felt stuck, unheard, and disconnected from my purpose. But that experience also taught me a lot about the industry, my own strength, and the importance of fighting for my vision and artistic freedom.
Now, I’m finally back in control of my career and creating from a place that feels true to me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer and songwriter. I specialize in creating music that blends raw emotion with rock energy and a rebellious, sensual edge. My sound is bold, honest, and constantly evolving—I want people to feel something real when they hear my voice. My goal is to tell stories that people can relate to. If someone’s going through something and they hear one of my songs and feel understood or a little less alone—that’s everything to me.
While I’m just starting to perform live, my focus has always been on creating music that hits deep and connects. I put all of myself into my lyrics and into the way I deliver them—whether it’s in the studio, on video, or on a stage.
What I’m most proud of is reclaiming my voice after years of being creatively silenced. Coming back stronger, writing my own songs, and building a project that’s completely true to who I am—that’s everything to me.
What sets me apart is that I’m not trying to follow trends or fit into a box—I’m creating my own lane. I’m not afraid to show my darkness, my fire, or my softness. I believe there’s real power in vulnerability, and I use that to connect deeply with others through my art.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating makes me happy. Writing songs, singing, performing—it’s how I connect with my soul and with others. It gives me purpose, it heals me, and it allows me to express parts of myself that words alone can’t touch.
I also feel happiest when I’m evolving—spiritually, emotionally, and artistically. But honestly? Being with my best friends and family is everything. I love being around the people I love—they recharge me and make me feel so lucky and grounded.
Oh, and let’s not forget one of my biggest sources of happiness: sleeping. I love to sleep. Like… deeply. Passionately. Almost professionally. Nothing like a good nap to reset your soul.
So yeah—give me music, real love, deep convos, and a good 8 hours, and I’m thriving.
