Meet Jayme Tingirides of Concepts by Jayme in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayme Tingirides.

Jayme, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I spent most of my life in Costa Rica with my mom (from age 6)… talk about a unique and fortunate childhood! It opened my mind up to a world of opportunities and ideas. My mom has always been a huge influence in my life… she is strong, smart, adventurous, and independent. She was always coming up with fun, new ideas and starting new ventures (#nofear). I’m sure this is where my dream of running my own business someday stemmed from.

When I moved to California 6 years ago, I got a typical 9-5 job in marketing… my first “real” job after college. I worked very hard to make my way to the top of the department and after hitting a ceiling; I quickly realized I could offer so much more! And not just in one industry… in several industries. My skills in graphic design, website design, social media, and coaching were never going to be fully tapped into at the companies I worked for. Sure enough, I found myself helping local businesses with their marketing after work. And just like that, I was growing my client list!

When I started to get serious about launching my dream career, I was terrified but excited. I had a very small window of opportunity to change my life in a huge way. While I was happy having a stable income, I found myself coming in to work daily and just “sticking it out”… that’s when I knew it was time to put on my big girl pants and take the leap. That might have been the scariest moment of my life…. but YOLO (you only live once), right?! Why not make it exciting?

I had read several articles and done my research to prepare myself as much as possible, but it just never feels like enough. I can’t tell you how many motivational books I read… let’s just say I used audible & kindle credits on the daily. It wasn’t until this point that I started to listen and DREAM BIGGER! I started analyzing what I wanted my life to look like and put a plan together to reach these desires.

I knew I wanted to have a career where I could have the flexibility to travel, balance my work and social life, and help people fulfill their dreams of having a successful business. It took me about 6 months to get situated and really start seeing results… but it was all worth it! I now have a successful marketing & coaching business and travel in between!!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road, but when is it when you are starting a business?! That is part of the fun! Hopefully, by sharing these experiences, I can help other small businesses keep an eye out for the same obstacles that popped up in my path.

– Leaving my day job ~ I was scared to death! I have never had a job without a steady paycheck, so of course, I instantly went into panic mode. There were so many days that first month that I questioned my choices and would stay up at night wondering if I needed to start interviewing for a new job. But with a little persistence, I made it through this phase…that’s right, it’s just a PHASE… and now I can look back and laugh! If I can do it, you can too!!

– No systems in place ~ When I was just starting out, I had to learn the flow of my business… and oh my, was this a learning curve! I have successfully managed marketing & retail departments before, but this was on a different scale. I had to find the cheapest (if not, FREE-99) versions of the invoicing software, email marketing platforms, e-signing options, etc. until I had consistent funds to invest in my business every month.

– Working every position on my own ~ This was a tough one… very bittersweet! Although I love working for myself, everything falls on me. If I am sick or have meetings all day… too bad! Now that I am in a groove with my process, I wear multiple hats – accounting, designing, coaching, legal (contracts… always fun), networking, sales, business planning, reporting – you name it, I do it… at least for now!

– Finding NEW clients ~ I really enjoy networking and meeting new people, so this part wasn’t really the problem. It was finding people I REALLY wanted to work with that shared the same values and work ethic. This took some time but definitely moved much quicker than I expected (yay!).

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Concepts by Jayme – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I work with small business owners, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and marketers to launch, grow, and scale their dream business with a clear marketing path. The goal is always focused on helping them save time, stay cost-effective, generate revenue, and up their marketing game with low-stress.

When I say up their marketing game, I mean I review their current marketing efforts and see how I can make them more efficient. Once I establish a plan with the small business, we work together to build their brand and I use my handy-dandy graphic design skills to create logos, a brand, print marketing, packaging, menus, email marketing, etc.

Once we have that going, I help them boost their online presence through website design and social media management. After these are all set up, I typically start coaching sessions with them to teach them how to manage their day-to-day, use social media, update their website, and what it means to run successful marketing in today’s digital world.

Working with small businesses to create a marketing strategy and making it come to life is my specialty. The best thing to hear from a client is, “This is so much better than I imagined!” Working with them through coaching and seeing their plan come to fruition is the most rewarding part of my job! There are so many different avenues to promote your business in today’s market that it can be extremely overwhelming as far as where to start and what platforms to have.

As a small business owner, I pride myself in giving small business owners direction and a starting point for their path to success. I have seen many of them take huge strides because they focused hard on one platform instead of spreading themselves thin on 10.

I think the customization and passion that I put in to my work really sets me apart. I LOVE helping my clients create a brand that is unique to them and pour my heart & soul in to seeing them achieve greatness in their business… I treat their business as if it were my own!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have some big things in the works for the future of my business. While I am happy with where I am at today, I know I can bring more to the table. I spend a lot of my time educating myself and keeping up with the newest trends in order to help my clients keep it fresh!

Right now, I am working on scaling my coaching in to a few different phases and getting more in depth. Next year, I would like to do a lot more traveling to teach some classes on social media, websites, and the importance of an online presence.

I am in the process of creating a coaching program that people can take online (on their own time… and at their own pace) and hope to have this up at the beginning of next year. This will allow me to help even more small business owners, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and marketers to launch, grow, and scale their dream business!
