Meet Katherine Soro of Color me Kat

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Soro.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Katherine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always had a love for the beauty industry; I suppose it comes from being raised in a hair salon. I started to dab and get my hands in hair when I was in high school, I was lucky to be able to take a cosmetology course and start learning a little bit about the basics.

At this time, I also started receptioning at a hair salon which taught me many valuable lessons of all of the every day behind the scenes work that goes on in a hair salon. I have the great advantage of having a great mentor right at home in my mother who has graciously shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the last couple of years, I have become more passionate and inspired by all things hair, from coloring to hair cutting to creating that final look. There is no greater feeling than having your client look in the mirror and love the way they look and feel. My clients at the end of every services feel beautiful, and confident.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has taken a while for me to finally decide to get my cosmetology license.I had a tough decision to make in deciding to take a break from achieving my business degree, but I am glad I took that crucial step in my career and have loved every minute of it ever since.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a hairstylist, I love every aspect of doing hair from coloring to cutting to styling. I specialize more in color and blonde work there’s nothing better than seeing somebody’s appearance change by adding some color to accentuate their features. I take pride in seeing the final look put together and seeing every client leave with a smile on their face.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career so far has been getting the recognition from one of my biggest mentors in the hair industry and knowing how proud they are of me and how great they know I’m doing. Also getting the recognition from my family and peers has been an amazing feeling.
