Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Aguilar.
Hi Viviana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I know this may sound so cliche, but I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I’ve been fascinated with my moms style growing up. I remember hanging out in my mom’s closet for hours, trying on all her clothes. My mother is my biggest fashion inspiration, I always remember her wearing the bright color suits and I just remember eagerly waiting to grow up to wear them. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2013 with a degree on Visual Communications. I had to put my career on hold and find a job that would work better for my family. My husband is in the military, I needed a 9-5 pm schedule to be able to balance mom & wife life. We had our son in 2016, and life just got busier. I am a great believer that everything happens for a reason, it was just not my time to open up my business. Fast forward, Covid-19 happen and it made me realized a lot of things. I spoke to my husband, and we both agreed that it was time to give it a shot. We open up VIEVEANA June 2021, and it was the best decision I ever made!
My family is my biggest motivation, I have their full support. There has been times when my husband & I have to drive to LA at 5 am, times when I bring my daughter with me to shop for new clothes, and sometimes I have to bring my kids to my pop-ups. I am motivated to be a successful Latina in business, and hope to be a motivation to my kids one day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, just like any other businesses it can be slow in the beginning. I would have to say the biggest challenge is keeping up with social media. I graduated from college in 2013 and Instagram had only been out for a couple years. I had to learn a whole new marketing strategy, YouTube and TikTok are my biggest teachers! I’m learning new things every day.
There was a time when I thought on giving up, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I know a lot of other small business owners have thought the same, that’s why I’m always trying to support other small business owners, even if we are selling the same thing. The smallest thing like a repost, like, or comment can make a difference.
My advice would be, that no matter what always try to stay positive! It might be slow now, but I am manifesting in year or 2 VIEVEANA will be my main source of income.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a mom, wife, daughter, and entrepreneur. I have my online boutique and I just recently partnered with 2 friends and started a marketing agency. We have been working with local businesses in the area by running their social media platforms.
What I am mostly proud of is being able to balance mom-life at such a young age. We had our daughter at 18, it was not easy but she has always been my biggest motivation. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, having her so young really pushed us to work harder. Thanks to her, we are at where we are now.
