Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith XLVII.
Faith, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My story stems from South Africa – its economic and political hardships as well as its majestic natural beauty, from sub-cultural movements such as punk and Graffiti culture, from being a young mother, from wanting to push my talents, to find myself, from traveling the world and seeking to understand the space between you and me, from a deep sense of loss and stillness within a world of chaos.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I work between public space and studio. Like an external and internal breath. At times I love the intensive interactions with people and places, and other times I want to be completely alone and create without any interruption. My work moves through various substrates, using a suitable mediums to communicate the voice I am looking for. I am constantly learning and wondering how to improve and expand my craft. I hope that I can allow my process of art-creation to work in conjunction with my own philosophical and spiritual journey as this would give meaning and substance to life, which is really what im searching for.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is entirely personal. Worldly success is essentially empty. Although I take none of it for granted. I am also aware that real fulfillment is something different. But having the ability and privilege of waking up each day and doing what you love. Of creating and manifesting projects and visions. That is a true blessing one should not take lightly. These are great achievements in the current state of the world.
