Today we’d like to introduce you to Yalda Yusufi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Yalda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for design stemmed from my early days of uncontrollable “doodling”. I took the interest of Architecture and Design to the Art Institute of Vancouver. This helped me hone in on my skills, mastering software’s such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. To feed this passion, I found myself getting into photography and retouching, so that I can expand my imagination and bring out more of my creativity.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and moved to San Francisco in 2014. Recently, I have relocated to San Diego with my husband, four birds and our dog. I am mostly inspired by nature, architecture, photo-manipulation, abstract art and animals. Outside of my corporate job, I work as a Freelance Digital Artist and Photographer. I bring my talents to businesses that are seeking a fresh and artistic approach, to disseminating corporate information.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If it is truly a passion you hold and are absolutely sure it’s what you want as a career, don’t give up. I had a lot of people telling me to change my major while I was attending the Art Institute, and some were even suggesting me to find a different career. This was due to the lack of knowledge in values that artistic careers actually hold.
It’s never going to be easy, all the amount of hours you put together with your ideas, and not seeing results fast can leave you feeling hopeless at times. There will be struggles, you just need to find your own way to stay motivated and push yourself. Luckily, I have a lot of support from my husband, family, and friends. I have been pushed beyond my limits and it feels great to have such positive motivation.
We’d love to hear more about Yalda Yusufi.
I specialize in many different aspects of Graphic Design and Photography. From designing logos, business cards, corporate collateral to illustrations. I also do photography outdoors of nature, wildlife, architecture and beautiful scenery, retouch them and create art pieces with them as well. I always carry my camera and laptop with me wherever I go, seeking to be inspired by something that could cross my path. I have a unique mindset when it comes to art and photography, finding my own way to put together a masterpiece every time.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have been following the latest trends in social media and staying up to date. Participating in art exhibitions and showcases are very helpful. This is an area I’m continuing to work on, I would love to connect with more art professionals local to San Diego and anywhere around the world.
