Theresa Bruno on Creating Space for Midlife Voices and Redefining What It Means to Be Seen

Theresa Bruno is on a mission to bring depth, authenticity, and representation back to an often-overlooked audience — those navigating life between 45 and 65. Through The Theresa Bruno Show, she’s creating a platform where real conversations around reinvention, relationships, and personal growth take center stage. Drawing from her success with Soul Talks, Theresa is carrying forward a commitment to emotional honesty and human connection, choosing guests and topics that make viewers feel truly seen. By meeting audiences where they are — both emotionally and through traditional media — she’s helping redefine how Generation X and Baby Boomers are represented: not as fading, but as evolving into some of the most meaningful chapters of their lives.

Theresa, what inspired you to focus The Theresa Bruno Show specifically on the 45–65 demographic, and why do you feel this audience has been overlooked in today’s media landscape?
The inspiration for focusing The Theresa Bruno show on the 45 to 65 demographic came from recognizing how underserved this audience is—specially women. So much of today’s media is centered around youth culture, quick trends, and surface-level conversations, while an entire generation of people are navigating some of the most profound transitions of their lives.

We created this show because we believe this generation is not fading—they are becoming. They are asking bigger questions and are rewriting their stories. They deserve media that reflects where they are emotionally, spiritually, relationally and professionally.

You’ve successfully built an audience with Soul Talks. How has that experience shaped your approach as you transition from podcasting to television?
Building a successful podcast taught me that what people are truly hungry for is authenticity. Podcasting gave me the freedom to lean into storytelling, vulnerability, and emotional depth in a very organic way. It taught me how to listen, how to hold space for people and how to create converation that are about being present with another human—not about a script.

What I’m carrying with me into the TV space is the understanding that viewers do not want polished content—they want connection. They want to see people talk honestly about relationships, grief, purpose, resilience, spirituality, and the complications of life.

The show features conversations around health, reinvention, and personal growth. How do you choose guests and topics that truly resonate with midlife audiences?
I choose guests and topics by asking one simple question first: “Will this conversation make someone feel seen? That guides everything we do on the show.

You’re aiming for national syndication through traditional channels. Why was it important for you to meet your audience where they already are instead of focusing solely on streaming platforms?
For me, it was very important to meet people where they already are rather than expect them to completely change their viewing habits to find us. Our audience—the 45 to 65 demographic—still values traditional television.

While streaming is incredibly important and absolutely part of the future, we never wanted the show to become exclusive to one platform or one generation’s habits.

If our mission is helping people feel seen, inspired, and connected, then meeting them where they already are feels like the most human approach possible.

As you build this show, what kind of impact do you hope it has on how Generation X and Baby Boomers are seen, heard, and represented in media?
I think Generation X and Baby Boomers are longing to see themselves represented in a more truthful and empowered way. Too often in media, people over 45 are either overlooked entirely or portrayed through limited stereotypes.

Our hope is that when viewers watch the show, they feel represented not only in age but in spirit. They feel reminded that there is still so much life ahead of them, and that some of the most meaningful chapters may still be unfolding.
