Hi Grace, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have worked in the flower industry for almost 10 years! Working in a variety of flower shops all over San Diego County and doing flowers for weddings has brought so much inspiration and fun throughout the years that I wanted to find more ways to keep flowers around forever. I have always loved pressing flowers in old books so I started to play around with framing pressed flowers and working with resin to create them in jewelry. After many trials and tedious tasks I finally landed on some favorite ways of preserving flowers with a microwave press and loving it! I officially launched For Keeps Florals in January of 2023 and have found my niche. We thrive in preserving bridal bouquets but love getting flowers from any special event! Keeping sentimental flowers around forever is such a treasure.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest trials were with figuring out what materials and products we liked best. From what resin/epoxy to work with, what frames we liked best, acrylic vs. glass, and the best ways to press certain flowers. Lots of examples or expenses later, we feel great about the current process! There were definitely unfortunate scenarios where flowers got moldy or over cooked in the microwave press, or the resin yellowed, but practice makes perfect.

We are definitely proud of the growth we have accomplished this year so far. It is amazing to receive orders from places like Maine or South Carolina weekly during peak wedding season! It is such an honor to preserve flowers from peoples most treasured days.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Keep practicing your trade to make it something you absolutely love! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and take chances.
