Today we’d like to introduce you to Kikue Misite
Hi Kikue, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely! I didn’t start in medical aesthetics—I started in what felt like the trenches of hospital nursing during the height of COVID-19. It was a rough start but blessing in disguise. Back then, working night shift was exhausting (I’m totally a morning person) and when quarantine became our new reality it was the first time I truly felt isolated and anxious. It slowly chipped away at my usual positive energy. But one day I had a pivotal realization – I am 100% responsible for my own happiness. So I took action. I transitioned to dayshift eventually working my way up to supervise the entire sports medicine and musculoskeletal department for a San Diego medical group. It was amazing, but I missed that deep, personal connection with patients…the kind where you see lives transformed in real time.
That longing for connection brought me to aesthetic nursing. I stepped into the field excited to finally have fun as a nurse. I honed my skills and built a reputation for authenticity. As a lead clinician at one of the largest cosmetic dermatology companies in the U.S., I developed a loyal following not because I had all the answers, but because I listened, cared, and genuinely sought to help my patients feel their best. This got me where I am today.
I’ll never forget the tears of gratitude from patients who finally felt seen, confident, and beautiful. Those moments confirmed my calling. It wasn’t just about enhancing appearances—it was about instilling confidence, self-love, and empowerment through self-care. Fueled by that passion, I took the leap and partnered with my medical director, Dr. Evan Vidal, to open Fiora Aesthetics. Our clinic in Solana Beach, California reflects everything we believe in: authenticity, excellence, and a commitment to helping others feel like the best versions of themselves. It’s rewarding helping my patients see the beauty and strength that’s always been within them.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey. Those long nights in the hospital, the struggles during COVID, and the transition into leadership all led me to open Fiora Aesthetics!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, but struggles are always blessings in disguise. There’s a saying I love: The road to heaven is hell, and the road to hell is heaven. Embracing obstacles is mandatory on the road to success and my journey has been full of them!
Nursing school was a struggle (iykyk, haha) but for good reason…imagine a poorly trained nurse or doctor caring for your mom, dad, siblings, best friend. I earned my degree at one of the top nursing schools in California and got my a** kicked in the best way. The next bump in the road was COVID. As a fairly new nurse, I was thrown into situations I wasn’t prepared for simply because we were short-staffed and there was no one else to do it. Even the best nursing schools couldn’t have prepared us for that pandemic. I felt so fatigued, stressed, and scared navigating the unknown all with peoples’ lives in my hands. It was overwhelming but the gift in disguise was learning to operate under immense pressure.
Opening Fiora Aesthetics was my first taste of entrepreneurship, which is an odd mix of stress and fear combined with liberation and freedom. When you open your first business you’re everything: nurse, manager, social media manager, bookkeeper, marketer, sales, administrator, investor…the list goes on. For me, it wasn’t the sheer workload that was overwhelming, it was learning most of these roles for the first time all at the same time! But eventually you find your rhythm and it’s liberating.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m not in the business of cosmetics, I’m in the business of transformation. My work is about helping people uncover confidence and simply feel good about themselves. It’s about inspiring them to see an energy within themselves that’s always been there, but may have been weighed down by life’s challenges and feelings of self-consciousness, insecurity, or invisibility.
While I technically specialize in skin rejuvenation, facial balancing, Botox & filler, etc., to help clients achieve their beauty goals, I’m most proud of how my work serves the inner spirit. Enhancing your outer appearance can help you rediscover that sense of lightness and vibrance that’s been inside all along. And it’s a reciprocal relationship – how we feel inside also greatly affects how we look. It’s an uncomfortable truth but how we see ourselves can greatly affect our daily lives – how you hold yourself, talk to others, how others treat you, your courage to take risks and get out there, etc.
What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to honesty over profit. I’ll tell you if you don’t need a treatment, or suggest waiting 4 months instead of 3 for Botox touch-ups in certain areas. Why? I know that lifting others ultimately lifts me up too and that philosophy drives everything I do. I’m invested in your confidence and trust, not just in the results you see in the mirror but in the way you feel when you walk out of my clinic.
At the heart of my work is the belief that beauty isn’t just about appearance, it’s about empowering people to feel seen, valued, and confident inside and out.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Having an abundance mindset is everything. It’s not just a way of thinking, it’s a way of being. Having an abundance mindset means believing and feeling there’s always enough health, wealth, love, opportunities, and support to go around for everyone. It’s about gratitude for what you have while knowing that even more is on its way.
One of my favorite teachings from Abraham Hicks is vibration precedes manifestation. You can’t simply “want” things into existence, you have to align your energy and vibration with what you desire. If you want abundance, you have to feel abundant. If you want love, you have to radiate love. For me, this looks like waking up each day and practicing gratitude for my health, patients, growth, and the overwhelming support I’ve received from my loved ones. Abundance mindset is knowing that what you desire is already here. This energy will automatically raise your frequency to match the frequency of whatever you want to attract. I know it’s deep lol, but it’s true.
This lesson didn’t come easy and mindset takes continual effort. When I started my business there were moments of fear: “Will I have enough patients? Am I good enough? What if something bad happens?” But instead of staying stuck in scarcity, I leaned into abundance. I focused on the skills I’d built and my resources for learning more, the trust I’d earned, and the lives I was already transforming. That shift in vibration made all the difference.
This lesson was so important because it brought me full circle back to my “why.” Why did I open this business? I opened this business because I wanted an abundance of inspiration, fulfillment, and the opportunity to change lives in a positive way. I wanted to uplift others and in doing so create the freedom to care for the people I love most, including my amazing patients. This abundance mindset fuels everything I do.
