Inspiring Conversations with Brenden Moran of Brenden Moran Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenden Moran.

Brenden, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
During my undergraduate years, I knew I wanted to eventually build my own coaching and consulting business. Because of that, I intentionally put myself into roles where I could learn how businesses actually operate from the inside, especially in businesses where operations weren’t running well. I sought out environments where I could help stabilize operations, improve systems, and drive measurable results so I could build real, practical experience.

Over time, that led to strong outcomes, such as the time when I improved profit by 600% in an equipment rental business.

I formally started my coaching business in 2024 and have been building it since then. Admittedly, this was sooner than I ever expected to start coaching and this is because 3 layoffs over 6 years gave me immense perspective on my life and career. I decided to dive in and just go for it!

When I launched, my initial thought was to be a generalist and serve a broad range of businesses. But after reflecting on what clients actually want, which is subject matter expertise, I looked back at my experience. Some of my most meaningful challenges and successes came within event and equipment rental businesses.

That realization shaped the direction of my company.

Today, I focus specifically on serving event and equipment rental business owners. I have built my programs, tools, and resources around the realities of those businesses, with the goal of helping owners stabilize their operations and scale in a way that is controlled, efficient, and profitable.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road.

Even though this type of business is often seen as having low overhead, I made the decision early on to invest heavily in building a brand and infrastructure that reflects the level of quality I want to deliver to my clients. That came with real financial pressure upfront.

One of the biggest challenges has been marketing. I understood its importance in theory, but building it from scratch is a completely different experience. It has been a crash course in learning how to get attention, communicate value clearly, and consistently reach the right audience. I have invested a lot of time into learning, working with mentors, and even bringing in additional help to improve in this area.

I am also working to build out speaking opportunities, which brings its own challenges. It requires stepping outside of your comfort zone, refining your story, and learning how to truly engage and deliver value to an audience.

Time has been another major factor. Like most entrepreneurs, I have spent time on things early on that I later realized were not the best use of my energy. There is a lot of trial and error. You knock on many doors, explore different paths, and gradually refine your direction.

That process, while challenging, has been valuable. It has given me a much deeper understanding of what the business owners I work with experience every day, which ultimately makes me better at helping them navigate their own challenges.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run Brenden Moran Coaching, where I work specifically with event and equipment rental business owners across the United States to help them stabilize their operations and scale in a way that is controlled, efficient, and profitable.

Most of the businesses I work with are doing solid revenue but are feeling the strain behind the scenes. Systems begin to break down, teams are stretched, cash feels tight despite strong sales, and the owner is still heavily involved in day to day operations. My focus is helping them turn that into a structured, well-run business that produces consistent profit and does not rely on the owner to hold everything together.

What sets my work apart is that it is built on real operational experience inside these businesses, not just theory. I focus on installing practical systems across strategy, marketing, sales, cash flow, team accountability, and operations so the business can perform consistently, not just during peak periods. I also recently launched a free book on my website that outlines the essential systems needed to stabilize a rental business.

I take a very industry-specific approach. Instead of trying to serve everyone, I have narrowed my focus to event and equipment rental businesses. That allows me to create tools, frameworks, and guidance that directly reflect the realities of those operations, from inventory utilization and logistics to team coordination and cash flow timing in a business often impacted by seasonality.

Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is the clarity of the message. Everything I build is centered around a simple idea: you have to stabilize before you scale. Many businesses push growth, but if the foundation is not solid, growth tends to amplify problems instead of solving them.

I want readers to know that there is a practical path to building a stronger business. With the right systems in place, it is possible to reduce chaos, improve profitability, and create a business that is both scalable and sustainable.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had a lot of support along the way.

I’m part of a network of other business coaches who have been instrumental in helping me shape my direction and strategy. Having that level of insight and perspective has made a big difference as I’ve built the business.

On a personal level, my wife Melyssa deserves a huge amount of credit. Building this business has required a lot of late nights and long weekends, and she has made real sacrifices to support that. The same goes for my four daughters, who have been incredibly patient and supportive throughout the process.

I’ve also been fortunate to work with great clients who have provided honest feedback and trust. Their input has helped shape how I deliver my services, and ultimately, their success is what drives the business.
