Anne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey in the USA started seven years ago when I went on vacation to San Diego and decided to look for a lymphatic drainage professional. That’s when I first realized that this procedure was not very common here, so much so that I couldn’t find one professional that did lymphatic drainage. This caught my attention and I thought about it for a long time. So, I returned to Brazil with a new perspective and vision. This was a turning point in my life, as it helped me make the decision to quit my successful career and dive into a new adventure; to move to a new country, to learn a new language, and to be certified in a renowned school, in order to be a trained professional in the area here in the USA.
Leave everything I had achieved over the years and move to San Diego was a huge step- I already knew that it would not be easy to start from Zero in a different country.
I am very grateful for the path I chose and for not giving up on my decision. I have gained good and loyal friends that I made throughout this journey. I have amazing clients who believe in me and refer my work to their friends and family. And I have met other professionals in the same area that have helped me expand my knowledge and seek to offer new services. I have gained the respect of my classmates who look for me to answer questions and expand their knowledge. And who have also become my clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a very difficult journey from the start. I had to adapt to a new culture, learn a new language, and move forward without a support system – as all of my family and friends are in Brazil. I was discouraged by many people, and was told many times to give up on my dreams and goals or choose a different profession. There were moments that there were no doors being opened, and only obstacles were in my way.
However, I never gave up. Any chance I got, I would start talking about my technique and the work that I offered, even at the risk of getting rejected. And believe me, I was rejected many times until I got to where I am today. I have received “NO’s” from employers, teachers, acquaintances, and close friends. It was very discouraging and frustrating when the people I respected would ridicule me and discredit my work.
But I did not let myself feel down, I remained firm in my convictions and dreams. I became selective of the friends that I have and worked hard to prove my work and gain the respect of others. I have three positive affirmations that have helped me remain optimistic and on track:
1. Be faithful and loyal to what I believe
2. Stay away from negative people and opinions
3. NEVER GIVE UP

My business is called ‘Up Your Body SPA’ and it is more than a project, it’s a dream that comes true day-by-day. I’m an educator and a healer, with the mission to teach each patient about the natural healing powers they hold within. I offer a natural and holistic approach to medicine. And I believe in the power of healing through natural and healthy alternatives or complements to western medicine.
I am a specialist in lymphatic drainage and developed my own technique called Sculpting Detox Massage, in which I am very proud, because in addition to helping many people I can show a new world related to massage, not only helping my clients achieve their physical goals with their bodies, but aligning their mind and soul.

My business is still in its early stages, baby steps, however, it is rapidly growing every month and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I believe that like every entrepreneur, I also want to see my vision become reality. In the near future I will be opening a Healing Center where I will be able to reach more people. I plan to teach and train others in holistic therapy so they can seek a path of love, clarity, health and not only aesthetic but spiritual growth. I believe it is important to have your physical body fully connected with your internal spirituality. It is difficult work, but very special and rewarding. It is only those who are in the same direction who will be able to move on to the next phase in a smooth, natural, therapeutic and professional way. Body mind and SOUL.
