Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Cohen.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Grooming Cohens started the way a lot of meaningful things do—out of necessity and a little bit of organized chaos.
My wife and I weren’t setting out to build a brand at first. We were building a life that balanced our love for animals with starting a family. We are a busy household with kids, cats, and full schedules and know how hard it is to find care that feels both trustworthy and personal.
We started with a small client base that quickly grew by word of mouth. We like to do things the right way- we care about each pet, their needs and want to give them a comfortable safe grooming experience. Success isn’t about a full schedule, it’s about building trust.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth isn’t a word I’d use to describe it, but it’s not a bad thing either! Kids, cats, scheduling curveballs- that’s kind of where we thrive. We’ve learned to adapt quickly and keep things moving, no matter what the day throws at us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We don’t overbook, we pay attention to the little things- how a dog is feeling that day, how we’re feeling that day, how the client is feeling that day. It’s important that our business reflects our values, not just our work.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Oceanside has it all, coastline, the local businesses, the sense of community. It just has a way of feeling both grounded and alive. It’s grown a lot, but it’s still got heart.
