Today we’d like to introduce you to Rita Rose.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Playing dress-up was by far my favorite thing to do as a little girl. I had an eye for fashion as young as seven years old. I was extremely petite and much smaller than most girls my age. I wasn’t able to fit into the “cool” clothes that most girls were wearing, so I had to get creative with my outfits. Because of this, putting outfits together and helping others find their personal style is a passion of mine. Whether I was mad, sad, happy or glad, fashion always put me in a place of comfort, just not my wallet!
I worked hard for everything I bought. I always had 2 or 3 jobs so that I could help my family, pay bills, and be able to afford my taste for fashion. My parents always appreciated that I took care of myself, but did not want me to pursue fashion as a career and so, I never did. My dad was suddenly diagnosed with Parkinson’s and all of my energy and time was spent taking care of him. He was my everything and after he was diagnosed, would often tell me to follow my dreams. He would tell me that “life is too short.” My dad passed away on September 14th, 2019 and a few months before he passed, I decided to take his advice and follow my dreams. That is when I began creating content and sharing it via Instagram.
My face isn’t shown on any of my posts for reasons to be explained at a later time, but I knew that I would have to find a way for people to get to know me without having to show my face. That is when I began a weekly walk in which I call “walk with me”. They are ten minute walks that I post on my stories every Wednesday and I share a little bit about my life with those that are watching. I have gotten so many comments from people on how much they love what I am doing. It is one of the few things that brings a smile to my face. When I first started posting, I never thought that I would get to meet people through social media, but I am forever grateful that my dad pushed me to follow my heart.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely has not been an easy road for me or my family. I had to put my passion on hold for a while when my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. My mom and I took care of him, I worked full time and then would go home to help my mom take care of my dad. Weekends were spent the same way. I would do it all over again. My dad was deserving of all of the help that I could ever provide him but it was never easy.
Please tell us more about your work.
My passion is to create content about the things that I love. Whether it be fashion, lifestyle, beauty, food, home decor or event planning. It is a passion of mine to connect with people and build relationships with those who share the love for their passions as much as I do.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment so far was taking the first step and starting my fashion page. Putting all of my worries and fears aside and diving in. It is what I needed and it is working out so well. I am blessed to have met the people that I have so far and I hope this momentum never stops.
